Project PQ stands for explosive, hot and high level Entertainment and creative performances. Project PQ was established 2002 by the artist Petra Quednau and is since then well-known for exciting fire shows under the name lady of fire. The name Lady of Fire stands for unique fire shows, which unite dance, fire juggling and pyrotechnics.

The time before the fire

Petra Quednau realized herself the dream of every young little girl and completed a three year apprenticeshop as horse trainer at the horse training centre St. Stephan in Framersheim. It became clear to her, that her path should lead her in another direction. She was working for the MZ Music Verlag (music publishing) in Bad Kreuznach which was producing labels like Shockwave, Junkfood and others. As a live act, she toured with the DJ Biochip C through Japan, Australia, Austria and Holland.

Backstage in the Entertainment-Branch

 In order to get a deeper insight into the entertainment industry, she started as an intern in the ZDF for half a year. Then she made the high school diploma. During this time she danced for different projects, also for the Chart-Project Re-Flex with live-appearances at VIVA and RTL. As a dancer, Petra Quednau came the first time in contact with the element fire and learned the bases of fire juggling in shortest time. She began to develop an individual fire show. Beside the fire, Petra Quednau trained in modern dance and jazz dance with different teachers like Paul Brandon, Andreas Lauck, Volker Michel and Mariella Morales.

Discovering the fire

The contact with fire cause such a fascination on Petra Quednau that she wanted to work at a fireworks company. She applied for a job in a fireworks company and worked at the company Zündwerk- Fireworks and Event Ltd. over one year. She was responsible for the artist-coordination and was a helper for pyrotechnics and fireworks. In this time, Petra Quednau learned the right and safe way to work with open fire and pyrotechnics for events and in public places.

International Shows as a dancer

2001, Petra Quednau met the magician Peter Marvey and works since 2002 as a dancer in his team. Beside the dance activity, she works as Creative Coordinator for Peter Marvey, for example backstage for television-productions in Japan or on stage in international stage-shows. Her versatility, her creativity and her organizing talent made it easy to become Creative Coordinator in the shows of Peter Marvey .With other projects, like the Cocktail Divas, the Musical soap Big Star Factory and with the Company Balance, she collected further knowledge in stage appearance as a dancer and fire-artist.

The discovery of the Performing Arts

Beside fire-shows, the art performances are another highlight of Project PQ since 2005. In cooperation with the art painter Usch Quednau, the performance "Cross-ways" was realized and presented in the Naturhistorisches Museum in Mainz. The visitors were enthusiastic and the performance got good press. In cooperation with the theater Ding Dong performances for example for the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt and Bertelsmann were realized.

Successes and acknowledgments

As Petra Quednau supplemented her fire show team 2004 beside the pyrotechnics Thomas Fischer with further dancers, also international organizers became attracted by the fire shows of Project PQ. The Lady of Fire puts big value on the presence, the course and the dance expression, that is unfortunately already suffocated with many fire shows in the spiritual germ. Beside weekly appearances on different festivals and galas, Project PQ convinces also with special shows, as for example a fire show in the air in the Cologne-arena 2005. 2006 the Lady of Fire realized the Duo show Fast and Furious and made another, fiery highlight, with which Project PQ differs in freshness, energy and creativity from other fire-artists. Since 2008 ProjectPQ presents the black-light-show Animatix-Lux in their repertoire. Animatix-Lux shows the symbiosis of light and insects in a hypnotic blacklight show.
