Danceperformance for the night of the museums

On June 6, 2007, we realized a dance performance with our performance group P'sonho di danca for the Gutenberg Druckladen in Mainz on the occasion of „Night of the museums". Throughout the evening, the dance performance "lettern dance" was presented three times and enjoyed by a lot of visitors. The Gutenberg Druckladen in Mainz stands for the letterpress printing tradition in terms of Gutenberg. "Nobody wanted more", the letters of an implemented outdoor installation of the Gutenberg Druckladen: monumental font in the outer space. The metallic letters "Nobody wanted more", created by an artist, were supposed to be integrated into the performance. Also, the dance performance was also to work with other parts of art, beside the dance. Beside dancing elements, the performance was also to include fire juggling, fire dance and live music.

For us, "Nobody wanted more" describes the state of abundance and the resulting standstill. Assuming from the sentence "Nobody wanted more", we conveyed to the visitors how you can increase from little and what happens, when everybody wants more and more. We showed the rise of movements, music, dance and light up to abundance, a point where nobody wants to have more. Thus, a tension was created which hit its peak with the finale: "Light" and the illumination of the stage as well as igniting the letters with fire. The letters "Nobody wanted" were arranged at a place in front of the Gutenberg Druckladen in Mainz, directing diagonally to the stage. The letters "more" were brought on stage by the dancers during the dancing performance and therefore integrated into the performance. At the end, the artists put the question: Do we want less? Do we really want more? Don't we want too much? and thus animated spectators to reflect themselves. The music was brought in live by musician Christian Schatka from Mainz during the performance and was especially prepared for the event. Here, we also started with little at the beginning in order to work with more later on.
